PROGRAMS FOR COMMUNITY ADMINISTRATORS

Two programs are offered, select the program that best suits the needs of your community and your residents:

Community Supported Individual Memberships

Specially priced individual membership access to our website and library of senior tech lessons that allows individual residents to join and enjoy lessons at their own time, place, and pace of learning.

Community-Wide Programs

Downloadable Community-Wide programs for communities with internal video systems, dedicated web sites, and/or dedicated apps, that allow community wide streaming of the lessons. This option is the one most often selected by communities.

Program Overview

Our program has been in use for more than 6 years, including during the pandemic, and was found to be a simple, effective, retirement community tested, method for providing high quality technology lessons to your residents that are specifically produced exclusively for Senior students.

Residents, (and perhaps as important, their adult children who would otherwise struggle to teach their parents the ever-changing technology required to operate today’s devices) find the videos immensely helpful for teaching residents how not to be intimidated or afraid of their devices, and instead turn them into useful and joyful tools they can easily master and use to better connect with their families.

Feedback from residents confirms that other sources, like YouTube, or the Apple Genius Bar are intimidating to learn from.

Typical frustrated feedback is:

The person speaks too fast.
The person uses terms I don’t understand.
There are no closed captions.
I can’t hear the video well.
There are no simple ‘step by step’ instructions to follow.

To address this we utilize years of experience working with seniors and teaching them technology and carefully create each video so that our instructor Dory Turk:

Speaks in an even, slow, and measured manner.
Uses words that I know the residents understand and can relate to.
Uses closed captions so those with hearing impairments can easily read what is being said.
Demonstrates slowly, and with large arrows and other visual aids to make the steps clear and easy to follow.
Tailors the detail and length of the videos to match the attention span and abilities of the residents.
And…Each video can be played back repeatedly and paused as needed to match the learning pace of the resident.

This has resulted in a highly successful program that added value and joy to the lives of the residents, as well as the family members they are better able to connect with through what they have learned. The satisfaction level of residents, and their families, is very high.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS

This method provides individual residents within your community the opportunity to join at special reduced monthly rates at no cost to the community itself.

As a member of doryturk.ndic.com, individual members enjoy full access to our ‘technology for seniors’ web site and senior technology lesson video library where they can view our specially produced senior oriented lessons on their own schedule, at their own learning pace, with 24/7 access in the comfort of their own unit, all for a very low monthly fee charged to their individual credit card.

DOWNLOADABLE COMMUNITY-WIDE PROGRAMS

For communities with community-wide internal video capabilities, dedicated web sites, and/or dedicated apps, and who wish to provide access to lessons via these internal systems on a community-wide basis, we offer our ‘community-wide programs’.

What is Included

An initial library of 8 lessons your first month, followed by 4 NEW video lessons each subsequent month of your subscription.
All video lessons can be downloaded directly to your legacy system, or fully integrated into your private community app, which allows 24/7 community-wide streaming of the lessons from your ever growing video library to all residents within your community.
Once purchased/downloaded, all videos may be used permanently within the community, even if your community subscription should end.
